people have been saying for awhile that events make everybody play like idiots, and that may be true to a degree (especially when it requires members of the same team to fight eachother for stuff). but it occured to me the last few events, especially the week long luckey charms event, and this one, that its not the events making everyone play like idiots. its the weekend mechwarriors.

this morning (i use the term loosely) after about 4 hours to complete the event, dinner, and a loaf of banana bread, i decided to pug away my premium time. the skill levels seemed to instantly plummet. entire matches where the highest scores are in the sub 30 range. average maturity has seemingly dropped to level 'tween'. now im probibly in elo hell because of time spend in the group queue, but a pattern is a pattern. i haven't seen games that bad for awhile. thinking on the week long luckey charms event, i cant recall seeing bad scores during the weekday games, but i did see a lot of bad scores friday-sunday. and previous weekend events, almost always bad. why not durring the weeklong events? because those are the every day players.

its the teens and college students, no doubt burdened with homework and part time jobs on the side, working adults with not a whole lot of free time during the weekdays. people who simply dont have the time to put in the hours to become good at mechwarrior. something to think about next time you want to bash pgi for 'stupid events' (i bash pgi enough as it is already).

Up the Irons FTW. You won the internet for today.
(Even if overall that may be one of their worst albums. Always kinda thought that sounded like Maiden and ACDC had a ******* love child, lol)

Being a home town Michigander cruising some of the same streets he did... and growing up listening to Deadly Teddley... I understand and accept opinion.

The "I'm having fun" carrying pic perfectly describes this phenomenon.

Really, this isn't really a random event or bad people playing, but there is honestly a disparity that has existed for a while and you're just going to have to accept it for what it is.

This is why I've always asked for a better NPE, because the players depending of the time of day do affect the quality of the game.

I've noticed the same thing too about the weekend. I don't think the skill level is necessary worse, but the teamwork definitely is.

Less people use voice, little coordination, and players rynning ahead away from the group.

When the team plays together it pulls everyon's scores up, when they don't it results in a bad game for everyone.

And to keep it on topic... both Iron Maiden and Ted should have gone away 25 years ago. They were great once, but not any longer.

Politics aside, most online games experience a serious dip in average player quality on weekends. I remember it being particularly pronounced in World of Tanks, for instance.

It makes me wonder: it's generally agreed (though not necessarily fact) that midweek players are of higher quality than weekend warriors. Therefore, if one player's Elo (Player A) is derived from playing during the middle of the week, when the more hardcore players are online, and another player's (Player B ) is derived from the weekends, when there are more casuals, does this mean that Player A's Elo could be artificially low in comparison with Player B?

For instance, holding steady at the mid tiers against good players is much harder than doing so against bad players, so that would put Player A in the mediocre player tier. And yet, it is theoretically possible that Player A's Elo "score" would be equal to Player B's, simply due to the quality of opponents that Player B faces regularly (ie: beating up on bad players 2 days a week). If player A decided to play on a weekend, this could account for above average player being dragged into matches with worse players due to how their Elo was derived, right?
